Holiday Dance Performance~ Sunday, December 2, 2018 at 3:30PM

Dear Parents:

Your children are amazing and have worked so hard this fall to prepare for this very special holiday show! With our performance just weeks away, we wanted to inform you of the following schedules and guidelines. With everyone’s cooperation, the remaining rehearsals and the performance will go smoothly and we will have a fantastic show!

Run Through at Studio, Dress Rehearsal & Performance Schedule

Tuesday, November 27th class adjustments.
We will be doing a full run of the holiday show at BritZa on Tuesday, Nov. 27th, from 6:00-7:30 PM and need all students in the show to be in attendance. Please plan to drop off and pick up your child as we will have about 130 students at the studio and have NO room for parents to watch! We will take good care of them! Costumes are not needed for this rehearsal with the exception of 9th-12th Grade students. *Note: There will be no 4:00PM 1st/2nd Ballet class. Please attend rehearsal at 6:00PM.

Dress rehearsal is scheduled for Sunday, December 2nd, at the Washington Pavilion. Rehearsal begins at 12:45PM and will finish by 2:30PM. We will run the show straight through one time. Please use the backstage entrance located at the NW corner of the Pavilion. Everyone needs to go through security when they arrive!!

All students need to be dressed and ready at the Pavilion by 12:30PM. Students may come in their costume or we will have dressing rooms available. Please be sure to write your childrens names in all of their shoes. Dress rehearsal is for BritZa families only. This is not open to the public.

A mom or female family member may escort students to their dressing room and help them get ready. However, they need to leave the backstage area no later than 3:15PM. We ask that a female family member attend to the student as we have many young ladies dressing backstage. The Performance is scheduled for 3:30PM.

Make Up

From 2:30-3:30PM, we will have time to apply makeup, do hair, etc. This is the responsibility of the students and parents, however, BritZa staff will be available to help. If you wish to purchase a theatrical make-up kit and apply it at home prior to your arrival, kits are available for $65. The kits include foundation, eye shadow, lipstick, blush and eyeliner. We wear this same make-up every year and it is the only make-up acceptable for our performances!! The kit will last for several years.

Costumes

Studio costumes that have been loaned to the students for this performance must be returned prior to leaving the Pavilion following the performance. Please do not write student names on these costumes. They are numbered and we have a list of who has which costume.

Hairstyles

Please keep in mind that this is not prom, a wedding or fashion show! The hairstyles need to be secure for dancing - no beads, sequins or glitter will be allowed!! All students (including Hip Hop) with medium length or long hair need to have their hair in a bun or braided and pinned up. Ponytails or braids hanging down are not allowed. Students with short hair need to have it styled and sprayed in place. The BritZa Staff has been instructed to fix any hairstyles that don’t meet our requirements! Please follow our guidelines.

Expectations of Students/Parents

 Because this is a professional show, all students are expected to remain backstage during the entire performance.

 No gum, candy or pop will be allowed backstage during the performances.

 No blue/green/pink/orange hair...only God-given colors!

 No extra hair pieces or hair accessories will be allowed unless they are part of the costume.

 No panties are to be worn under costumes. All female students are to wear theatrical pink tights unless directed otherwise   by your teacher. Tights are available at the Dance Line or through TheStudioDirector. All male dancers need to wear compression shorts under costumes unless jeans are being worn.

 No nail polish will be allowed.
 NO CELL PHONES or ELECTRONICS backstage! They will be confiscated and held by our staff until after the show. Zero Tolerance will be in effect!

 No jewelry, including earrings, during the performance. (Do not get your ears pierced in the next few weeks!)

 Do not bring messy snacks or food.

 We do recommend bringing water bottles as there is not a drinking fountain backstage!

 No parents are allowed backstage or in dressing rooms during the show. Because we feel accountable and responsible for all the students backstage, we make it a priority to have security in place at all times.

 At the conclusion of the performance, 1st-4th Grade Ballet students will be held in their dressing rooms until they are picked up by a parent.

 All students will remain backstage until their dressing room is tidy and a BritZa staff member has checked the room and released the students.

Video Cameras and Flash Photography

Video cameras are allowed during dress rehearsal as well as during the performance. Please be mindful of others seated near you. No flash photography during the performance.

Media Productions will be filming the performance and is offering DVDs for $28 each. Order forms will be available at the studio in November. Please complete a form and return it along with your check made payable to “Media Productions”. DVDs need to be ordered and paid for prior to the performance.


Performance Seating/Tickets

All seats are reserved and are $20.50 each for adults and $16.50 each for students on a first come, first served basis. Tickets for our holiday show, Finally Its Christmas” will be sold by the Pavilion box office and go on sale Saturday, Nov. 3rd at 9:30 AM. The number to call is 367-6000. This price does not include the 9% sales tax. Each ticket also has a $3 facility fee. If you order your tickets by phone or on thePavilion’s website, there is an added charge of $3 per ticket for phone and $6 per ticket for website orders. We suggest purchasing your tickets in person at the Pavilion.

Miscellaneous Info

 Just a helpful hint to parents with children in the performance for the first time: Many students receive flowers from their parents following the performances. It is a very special time for them!

The performances are open to the public so please invite as many friends, teachers, relatives and neighbors as you wish. What a great Christmas gift!!

  All classes involved in the Holiday Show will NOT be having that class style the week of December 3rd-6th. All other classes will meet as scheduled that week.

Dinner and a Movie! Wednesday, December 5th from 5:45-7:00PM. We will be watching the video of the Holiday Performance at the studio. This is only for students who participate in the show. Please bring your picnic style dinner and a blanket with you. Parents please be prompt when picking up your child as the studio will close at 7:00PM!

  • Schedule Changes Due to Upcoming Holidays

    Just a reminder that the studio will be closed:

    Tuesday, November 20th through Sunday, November 25th for the Thanksgiving Holiday and Friday, December 21st through Wednesday, January 2nd for the Christmas Holiday.

    Classes resume on Thursday, January 3rd.

    Remove Your Shoes When Entering the Studio

    As the weather changes, please, please, please remove your shoes when entering the studio. If it is snowing or raining, parents, grand-parents, siblings, friends, etc. will be asked to comply with this rule! Salt used to keep the parking lot safe destroys dance shoe soles as well as our carpet!
